How often do you mow your grass?

How about edging your lawn with that very powerful, motorized trimmer?

Each time you do, you risk great injury to your eyes.

If a lawn mower kicks up a stick, rock, or some other hard object, it can easily become a targeted trajectory aiming right at your eyes. With blades rotating at 3000 rpm (as fast as a car motor goes), many of us have seen what can be done to a picture window. Think of how that would feel in your eye?

Dr. Gil Grand, an ophthalmologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, discusses the dangers that lurk in our yards, and gives tips on how to protect our eyes.
